Megan’s tips for keeping beautiful salon-perfect color in between visits:

-   Be gentle with water temperature. Very hot water will fade color more quickly.

-   Use gentle, color-safe shampoo and conditioner. If you are going to invest in high quality color, use high quality products.

- Apply a deep conditioner once per week. Pureology and Phyto both make excellent deep conditioners.

- It's a good idea to deep condition your hair about 3-4 days before your color appointment.  This will help to protect your hair and still allow maximum color hold.

- Use gentle, professional products. You've paid for the best color, take good care of it.

- Don't brush wet hair. Gently untangle it, beginning at the bottom.

- When using heated styling appliances always apply a good thermal protectant. They make a huge difference in the condition of your hair.

- Trim your hair regularly. The most expert color will appear flawed on unhealthy hair.

- Never attempt a color correction at home. Color correction must be left to the experts. I trained intensely for two years before being promoted to a stylist position. Just because a shade looks one way on the box, does not mean it will look that way on your hair

- Bring in pictures for your first visit/consultation. Words can mean different things to different people, let a visual help to explain what you want.

- Give your hair a break from the flat iron. I know it looks great, but it make your hair dry, damaged, and porous, and porous hair does not hold color well.

- Do an in salon protein treatment. This is an intense treatment which will remarkably strengthen hair, as well as stop breakage. A must for color treated hair.

- Use a sun product when outside for prolonged periods.

-  Come back soon...more to follow.
